Graduate Program Director

I am currently serving as the Graduate Program Director (GPD). As a GPD, I am responsible for: answering questions from prospective students; overseeing the admissions process, including application review and selection of graduate students; maintaining recruitment and advising documents; overseeing the graduate program assessment process and reporting; advising new graduate students and/or assigning advisors for new graduate students; overseeing the graduate program’s curriculum and making changes where appropriate; ensuring that the program’s curriculum and related experiences are preparing students for the workplace or for future graduate study; and handling any student grievances.


Head of Cultural & Critical Studies Division; AEJMC

At AEJMC, I have served in various leadership roles. Currently, I am the Head for Cultural and Critical Studies Division. In the past, I have held several other positions. I have been the Vice-Head, Secretary, Lead Research Chair and Paper Competition Chair, and the Teaching Chair.


Undergraduate & Graduate Assessment Plan Developer

 I developed a detailed assessment plan for the Department of Mass Communications which was required by the accreditation body ACEJMC. I also developed the assessment plan for the graduate program.


Chair of Faculty Development & Faculty Senate Member

As a faculty development chair, my role was to coordinate various activities related to faculty development, including Excellence in Undergraduate Education grant, various workshops, Continuous Improvement Symposium, Teaching Excellence Award and other activities.


Reviewer for Journals
and Conferences  

I have frequently reviewed for prominent international conferences and journals. Some of the conferences for which I have reviewed include, International Communication Association Conference (ICA), The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), Central States Communication. Association (CSCA). I have reviewed for Feminist Media Studies, Journal of International and Intercultural Studies, Communication, Culture and Critique,  Journal of Popular Culture, Popular Communication, Sport and Society, and Journal of Macromarketing.     


Mass Comm Week
Organizer

I have organized week-long mass comm week where industry professionals and experts from the academics are invited to give lectures and workshops to students and wider university community.

Administration

I have been involved in hiring and evaluation of faculty as well as university administrators. I served on annual merit committee, promotion and tenure committee, and Committee for Higher Administrator Performance Appraisal (CHAPA) which evaluates performance of the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor.
